So it’s a Melbourne Victory v Sydney FC Grand Final next Saturday at Ethihad Stadium. A fitting way to end the season, with the two best teams facing off in the decider. Most of us would make Melbourne slight favourites given their home advantage, however Sydney did finish the season in top spot, so it all comes down to who wants it on the day.
Funny isn’t it, there is nothing like a game of football to bring out all of those predictable cliche´s. One of them will be ‘over the moon’ and the others “sick as a parrot’
I have no issue with these two clubs, but, the attendance on Saturday night for the Semi-Final showdown with the Wellington Phoenix was pitiful. A little over 13,000 fans turned up, to either cheer on Wellington or to get behind the home team, and help steer them into the Grand Final.
Now, the FFA believe that the supporter base in Western Sydney is huge and will justify their inclusion for season 2012. If that is the case, you would have to assume that this will water down the supporter base from Sydney FC, thus reducing their already fickle support.
It still gets up my nose that the FFA picked Western Sydney over Canberra.
