I have to say, I’m not getting much out of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. I know it’s only been going for three days, but it is just not doing it for me. It could be due to the fact there have been very few goals scored so far, or because England failed to beat the USA, or because Australia have just been hammered 4-0 by the Germans. Or is it because we are missing the summer atmosphere? The World Cup is usually played during the northern hemisphere summer, however this time we are in the southern hemisphere and the World Cup is effectively taking place in winter.
How would the English and the Germans feel about playing the World Cup in November and December? Players wouldn’t mind, I’m sure, but the fans would hate it. What are the Biking-wearing Brazilian babes gonna wear when they play North Korea in Jo’Burg tomorrow?
Did have to laugh watching self-destructing Serbia play Ghana this morning. On 85 minutes Serbian defender Zdravko Kuzmanovic inexplicably handled the ball when the game was deadlocked at 0-0. The resulting penalty was converted to give Ghana a 1-0 win, but what amused me was the way Kuzmanovic, tried to appeal the decision, and convince the ref that he hadn’t intentionally handled the ball.

Great stuff from the Serbs, who also picked up their customary red card.
Australia’s game against Germany was a total disaster, where they were outclassed. Tim Cahill’s red card was very harsh, and now they have to try and beat Ghana without him.
I hope it gets better, but so far the World Cup is not looking good.
Well I hope the Germany Serbia result cheered you up, it’s not impossible at this stage for Australia to top the group.
